Platelet-Rich Plasma Injections

PRP Injections Q & A

How does platelet-rich plasma work?
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) involves extracting your body’s own powerful growth factor proteins — which are attached to platelets — and strategically injecting them into targeted areas. During your PRP injection session, your practitioner draws a small amount of your blood and deposits it into a specialized blood-processing machine known as a centrifuge.

The centrifuge spins your blood, which isolates and concentrates the platelets, and thus, growth factors. This growth factor-enriched solution gets mixed back in with some of your plasma and is then ready to be injected into your injured or damaged tissue.

As soon as PRP is injected, growth factors go to work and start building and healing targeted tissues. The result is decreased pain and inflammation, all without needing an invasive procedure or daily medications.
